Of all the British Invasion acts of 1964, Chad&Jeremy were unique in that not only were they long-haired purveyors of English-accented pop hits, but they were clever songwriters who had a softer side and a sensibility closer to many of their US folk-pop contemporaries. Combine this with a fantastic wit which they used to great effect on stage, television, and records and you are left with a memorable combination which still wins over audiences today.

An Evening with Smokey Robinson

November 13
MGM Grand Theater

With the Miracles in the 1960s, Smokey Robinson paced dozens of tuneful Motown hits with his beautiful high tenor. As a solo performer from the 1970s onward, he was one of the staples of urban contemporary music. But his singing gifts, as notable as they are, comprise only one of his hats: he's also one of pop's best and most prolific songwriters. As a songwriter and producer, he was the most important musical component to Motown's early success, not only on the hits by the Miracles, but for numerous other acts as well (especially Mary Wells and the Temptations).

Poco

Infinity Music Hall
November 14th • 08:00 PM

Poco has always been a pioneer. It can easily be argued that Poco first created the combination of vocal harmonies, country instruments and rock and roll rhythms that became known as country rock.
Poco began when Richie Furay, Jim Messina, and Rusty Young met during the Buffalo Springfield’s ‘Last Time Around’ sessions in 1968. Rusty was called to play steel guitar on Richie Furay’s song ‘Kind Woman’ and after the session was over the three talked about starting a band. That was the beginning of a band that would inspire a generation of musicians.

Ian Anderson

Warner Theater
November 9th | 8:00 PM

Known throughout the world of rock music as the flute and voice behind the legendary Jethro Tull, Ian Anderson returns to the Warner for one performance only.
Widely recognized as the man who introduced the flute to rock music, Ian Anderson remains the crowned exponent of the popular and rock genres of flute playing. So far, no pretender to the throne has stepped forward. Ian also plays ethnic flutes and whistles together with acoustic guitar and the mandolin family of instruments, providing the acoustic textures which are an integral part of most of the Tull repertoire.

Blige to “American Idol” winner Fantasia Burrino and Oscar-winning Jennifer Hudson. Her ever-distinctive soulful, to-the-bone vocal style has graced the music charts for over four decades and while her ‘live’ performances have touched the hearts of literally millions since she began her musical journey as a gospel-singing child prodigy, it is her rich legacy of recordings that are a testament to the power, majesty and genius of this one-of-a-kind artist of the first order.
